I have a very big problem: since upgrading my computer to Windows 7 from Windows Vista, my registered, purchased copy of RMVX tells me that my trial period has expired. Worst-case scenario, I'd have to buy it again, and no, I don't have the serial number (I lost the e-mail that had it). If there were another method, would you please tell me?

Your overall mapping skills seem decent - you're staggering terrain, randomizing it, etc. Not bad, considering that chipset you're using is so limiting. There's only one thing that strikes me as odd about your map - are you using two different "ground" tiles? By that I mean, you have the snow tile, which is ground, and it looks like you have a lighter colored version of the cliff wall as ground also. The problem with this is that your "mountains" or hills, or whatever you want to call them, appear to lack depth. The player will assume based on the visuals that the snowy path is primarily a valley of some sort (which may be what you are trying to accomplish). While this might work if you increased the number of tiles you are using vertically for your "cliff ground" tile to give the impression of depth, this would still clash with the snowy stairs, which give us the visual impression that we should be climbing up the mountain. It's hard to put into words what is essentially an aesthetic problem, but I hope that helps. If you are still updating this website, just reply to my post and I'll whip up a map screenshot or two to show you what the problem is visually.

I've always been in two minds whether to implement a side scroller in the "next gen" RPG Makers, although these look cool.
